The first layout I chose is for a cinema festival, by Nauman Afzal. I like this piece for it's use of silhouette to describe one object even though it is comprised of other objects... in this case, an ice cream cone comprised of film negatives. The piece is centered and our eyes immediately go the the text on the cone, then finally to the information we need at the bottom. The cone leads our eyes.
While there is no credited artist, I liked this billboard design found at designmodo. The piece uses very little to help you understand what it is advertising. It's simple and and clean like the product, and creatively uses the color of the sky to help us focus on the billboard. It effectively uses space. We know what is being sold!
