Courtney - Surreal/Alternate Reality Artists

Andre Breton created art within the time period as things were happening. Breton was one of the first Abstract Expressionist. He would take ideas that were from the head that seems like a fantasy and make them look like a reality. People would call him "the founder of Surrealism."

Salvador Dali was mostly a painter who made surreal paintings. Dali's themes focused only mainly three things: sexual symbolism, man's universe and sensations, and ideographic imagery. Dali creates unrealistic characters.

Max Ernst was a sculptor, painter, graphic designer, and poet. Ernst's artwork shows things coming to life that simply can not be true. His artwork is colorful and lifelike. Most of his artwork is repetitive with shapes and forms. With Ernst's artwork, my eye does want to jump from one part of the artwork then to the next, very busy.
